This is one of the first outfits I created on Polyvore and is still one of my favorites, so I was surprised to find out I hadn't shared it yet here on the blog. The skirt and tank work equally well for summer and for fall which makes this the perfect transitional outfit. The leather jacket adds some weight, both in color and fabric, which adds an autumnal feel as well as creating a fun dichotomy between hard and soft lines. I love a floral skirt and the neutral colors of this one make it a versatile piece that you will want to wear all year round. An outfit like this is a reminder that we should not organize our clothes into seasons. If we put away our summer clothes once the weather turns cool, then we miss out on the chance to create these fun transitional looks. If you have limited closet space and have to store your off season clothes in boxes, try dividing your pieces into early fall and late fall instead of just fall. That way you can create a transitional wardrobe by adding in the early fall pieces, rather than swapping from warm to cool all in one go. Share your favorite fall transition pieces in the comments and let me know what you are most looking forward to wearing once the temperatures drop! | |

I love that outfit! Do you have any suggestions on how to replicate it from the late summer sales currently underway?

This is not the time to find a leather jacket on sale, but it is likely you can find the other pieces on the sale rack now. I would suggest shopping your closet for the shirt (which is a fairly simple knit tank) and the accessories. You can modify the color scheme to work with what you already own. For a similar style of skirt, try this option from Old Navy: http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=1011458&vid=1&pid=120362042 or this one from Gap: http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=1010680&vid=1&pid=960349002
