Boden Kate Dress $198
For some, Sunday brunch brings to mind images of mimosas on a sunny patio while wearing a breezy sundress and strappy sandals, but that doesn't mean that it has to be confined to summertime. After all, hot coffee and french toast are even more enjoyable when it is not 100 degrees outside. So when the air turns crisp and cool, pair a patterned dress (I especially love a knit dress because they are just so comfortable) with dark tights and a great wedge or boot. Add a skinny belt to accentuate your waist, a contrasting clutch, and a necklace or bracelet with a touch of sparkle. Then grab a table by the window at your favorite brunch spot and order up a plate of something delicious!

Here are a few other dresses that are perfect for brunch:

Banana Republic Gemma Windowpane Wrap Dress $98

Lands' End Floral Pattern Fit and Flare Dress $49.99

Old Navy Long Sleeved Wrap Dress $17.97
I love putting on a dress for brunch because it makes the meal feel more like an event. What other weekend activities inspire you to dress up? Let me know in the comments!

I love those suggestions for brunch dresses! Do you have any suggestions about how to transition summer/fall dresses into early winter? It's still getting into the 50s during the day here, so I was hoping to get a bit more use out of what I already have.

The easiest way is to add a cardigan and tights. If your dresses have a bright and summery pattern, then stay away from black tights. You might be better served with light grey or a color from the pattern.

If you have sleeveless sheath dresses that you want to get additional use out of, layer a long sleeve tee underneath. I especially love a striped tee.

If your black boots seem too harsh against the brighter colors of your summer and early fall pieces, then try a brown riding boot for a softer edge.
