As many of you know, one of my favorite fabrics is ponte and it is also one of the favorite fabrics of many big brands. It is stretchy without being clingy and has enough weight to create structured pieces. Basically, if you want to feel like you are wearing pajamas while looking like you're vying for a promotion, this is the fabric for you.
If you absolutely have to wear something stretchy and black on the bottom, try out these ponte slim leg pants from Ann Taylor. They are tailored (with a real zipper! and belt loops!) and can be dressed up or down (unlike your spandex yoga leggings).
Scarves are fantastic for accessorizing your "comfy-chic" clothes because they not only add extra pizzazz, but are just as soft as the rest of your outfit. With so many amazing options out there, it is a shame to spend your day in work out clothes. So for your next lunch with friends, leave your yoga pants at the gym and instead try rocking some ponte or a cute knit top.
Last week I came across this article about how workout wear has been gaining traction as everyday wear in New York City. I have previously voiced my displeasure about this growing fad, so with a new season upon us it is the perfect time for a quick refresh on styles and fabrics that are comfortable and chic alternatives to your gym clothes.
