Can you believe that it is almost Labor Day weekend? In just a few days we will be barbecuing, wearing white, and generally enjoying the last hurrah of summer. The long weekend is also perfect for getting out of town for a couple days, whether for a relaxing respite in nature or to a wedding filled with dancing. Whatever your plans are, I have tips on how to dress for them all so that you are comfortable and chic.

Packing for any trip can be stressful, but I have created an easy to follow list of steps that will make sure that you arrive at your destination with all the pieces you need (and not too many that you don't). Check out my vacation ready post for all the tips.

With nearly every airline charging to check luggage, you may want to take as small of a bag as possible. While it takes a little more preparation, you can pack pieces that can be worn several times in different combinations. It'll save you space and baggage fees! For the complete story, read how to pack for a transatlantic trip in one suitcase. I promise that it is easier than it sounds!
If you are heading to a wedding, take a look at this post about skipping the dress and heels. It may seem daring at first, but there are plenty of fabulous and appropriate outfits that will give your look a quick makeover and keep you dancing all night!
For activities closer to home, such as barbecues and picnics, you can still add some extra style to your outfit. Whether you are wearing patterned shorts with a chambray shirt or rocking a maxi dress, you can look polished when the temperatures are high. The key is to choose a statement piece that doesn't require heavy accessories or layers to look great.

If you just need a little bit of inspiration to help you shop in your own closet, how about these three brightly colored outfits? Or perhaps you have a great summer dress that has spent the season in the back of your closet? Check out these tips for reworking a piece that is no longer pulling its weight.

If you have any other Labor Day weekend related style questions, leave them in the comments and I will try to answer them before you have to pack your suitcase or head out to the neighborhood potluck!
