If you are unsure of your ability to mix patterns, start with stripes, polka dots and florals. I love this look because the scarf adds cohesion, not chaos, by uniting the three main colors together. While navy and white are the dominant colors in this palette, the pink tank helps to highlight the more subtle pink in the scarf. Wear to Work: Pair with navy trousers (or cropped pants if you don't have to worry about the air conditioning getting too cold) and patent ballet flats. Around Town: Pair with denim and sandals. Loosely cuff your jeans for a casual look that says, "I'm effortlessly stylish!" Lighter wash (not acid wash!) denim feels more summery and less polished than the dark washes I usually recommend, which is perfect for a spring or summer afternoon. Dinner Date: Pair with white cropped pants and a metallic heel. If you tuck in the tank, add a metallic skinny belt, regardless of whether or not you plan to keep the blazer buttoned. |
When I was in Atlanta last month, my sister and I spent an afternoon going through her closet and putting together the pieces she already owns together in new ways. We created twenty-five outfits and this week on the blog I will be sharing five of them. For more looks from Emily's closet, click here.
