The outfit: Dark wash, bootcut denim, a grey sequin tank, a grey ruffle cardigan, and a bright pink scarf. Pair with metallic ballet flats or riding boots. Where to wear it: To happy hour at your local bar, to a casual holiday get- together, or to exchange gifts over lunch with your friends. Why it works: The grey tank and cardigan are a fun twist on the traditional twinset and add visual interest without overwhelming the eye. When mixing bold textures such as sequins and ruffles, the key is to keep the colors neutral and similar. However, to avoid a boring, monochromatic outfit, I added a bright pop with the scarf. |

Happy Boxing Day! Need to catch up on the 12 Days of Holiday Parties outfit series? Past posts can be found here and new outfits for every event and dress code will be posted daily until New Year's Eve. One holiday tradition I loved as a kid was the annual cookie decorating party thrown by a family friend on Boxing Day. I spent the entire day with the other kids at the kitchen table adding sprinkles and red hots to freshly baked sugar cookies while our parents sipped hot cider and ate our creations in the living room. This outfit is inspired by that memory.
Merry Christmas Eve! If you still need a great look to wear to Christmas dinner or to a Boxing Day cookie exchange, check out the past posts from the 12 Days of Holiday Parties series which can be found here. The outfit:
I don't think any woman can get through the holiday season without wearing a Little Black Dress, but that doesn't mean that you have to look like everyone else. Add accessories in a bold color. I chose a pop of red in the necklace, belt and shoes. Where to wear it: This is perfect for an evening cocktail party or if your family dresses up for Christmas dinner. (This dress is made out of jersey knit so it is comfortable as well as stylish!) Why it works: The LBD is a classic and practical look that works for a variety of dress codes and occasions. Fun accents let you show off your own personal style and prevent you from blending in with the crowd!
