The week of 4th of July outfits continues! A patterned skirt is a summer must-wear and an easy way to make a skirt appropriate for a casual event is to pair it with a chambray shirt. Depending on your mood, you can wear the chambray shirt tucked into the skirt and accented with a belt or you can tie the ends of the shirt for a more laid-back feel. An optional necklace can add an extra pop of color or sparkle if you want to take your look up a notch. It is now July and that means Independence Day is approaching faster than I can check things off my to-do list! I am posting outfit of the day (#ootd) ideas so that you can look and feel great at your weekend festivities. Head over to bread and flowers for a cocktail recipe that is more American than apple pie and check back later in the week for more food inspiration! My absolute favorite color is red and I am a sucker for seersucker, so these red seersucker shorts are right up my alley. I also love that they can transform from casual to preppy polished with minimal effort which means that they are a go-to summer piece. For a casual look I paired the shorts with a printed tee featuring sailboats and palm trees on an island. This is perfect for hanging out on a picnic blanket and watching the fireworks. For a more polished look, I tucked in a navy tank and accessorized with a neutral skinny belt and sparkly necklace. This is a comfortable, but camera-ready look if your day includes lawn chairs instead of grass stains.
