Help prevent boredom by pushing yourself to try something new. When you pull out an outfit from your closet on auto pilot, take 30 seconds and ask yourself, "What can I change to make this feel new?" Maybe you will change a scarf or a belt or maybe you will pair your favorite cardigan with a skirt instead of your go-to work pants. We collect clothes, but don't use them as efficiently and effectively as possible. With spring on its way, we have the perfect excuse to shuffle up the cards in our closet and come out with some new favorites!
It is not uncommon to hear that your accessories can transform your look and, while this is true, it can also put undue pressure on you to find those perfect pieces. Great accessories should add to your look, not overwhelm or hide it.
There is no one right way to wear an outfit. Especially with dressier clothes, it is easy to fall into the trap of always wearing things the same way. Changing a belt or a necklace is a quick and painless way to break out of the box without hiding the core piece(s) of your outfit.
Since I have not been able to post as often as I would like, I have finally caved and joined Pinterest. This means that I can easily and quickly add photos of style inspiration for your (and my) enjoyment. I will have a new post up here in the next couple days, but until then, check out the looks that I am loving at www.pinterest.com/practicalstyl. Thanks for your patience with my erratic posting schedule!
