I tucked a teal double v-neck knit tee into a black sequin mini skirt and added a blingy crystal necklace and fabulous silver pumps.
Where to wear it:
To an evening party with a "festive attire" dress code.
Why it works:
The "festive attire" dress code is probably one of the most difficult for people to wrap their heads around. Should you wear a jingle bell sweater complete with flashing lights or slip into your glamorous New Year's Eve dress? Generally, it means a step below cocktail party, but with something that feels seasonal. That could be a sequin skirt, velvet pants, or a rocking red and green dress. But you do not need to get totally dressed up which is why I paired this skirt with a knit top instead of a silk shell. Since the rest of the pieces in the outfit are dressy, it is important that the knit is not a thin gym t-shirt. This top is a thicker cotton and has a great neckline. You can also add an unbuttoned black blazer for more structure or swap out the heels for a silver ballet flat if you know you'll be standing most of the night.
